The co-teaching movement encourages the inclusion of special education students in the general education classroom. Despite this movement, there has been little effort to provide tools to indicate the effectiveness of the co-taught environment. This study successfully developed and validated a measurement tool for observing both educators in the co-taught classroom. Research based best practices were the driving force, and the resulting instrument allows much opportunity for future research. The observation instrument is included in the manuscript. It is requested that the author simply be contacted prior to use of the observation tool.
