Synopsis

In this volume, with quickness and a systematic approach using Scriptures and historical references, we discuss The War of AD 70 and its relationship to the Book of Revelation. This war was the Great Tribulation and what chapter 4 through chapter 16 of the Book of Revelation shows. Jesus spoke with specifics about the land of Philistia and even more about Jerusalem's destruction, and its temple worship. Jesus also said this great tribulation would happen to His generation, the generation to which He came as a physical man and spoke. Matthew 23:36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon THIS GENERATION.Jesus laid the great tribulation out in specifics for His disciples to prepare. 1.What they can expect2.How to know it was time3.How to know it was over4.Know the great tribulation was the sign Jesus was ruling from heavenJesus told his disciples seven issues would happen before the Jewish nation's abomination of desolation and destruction. Jesus called these events the beginning of sorrows (Mat 24:8). 1.Wars and rumors of wars2.Famines3.Pestilences4.Earthquakes5.Apostles arrested, beaten, hated, and killed6.False preachers deceiving many7.People hating one anotherThe disciples were to repeat what Jesus told them about the desolation and great tribulation to all nations as a witness. When it happened, it proved Jesus is the Son of man and now seated in heaven.Matthew 24:30 "At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. As the witness of the apostles and disciples progressed across the known world, the relationship between the Jewish nation and Rome deteriorated. Taxes, oppression, poor governing, the demand of Rome for the Jews to worship Caesar, etc. brought Jewish rebellion and war. During this time, the followers of Jesus preached the gospel of the kingdom to all nations. A part of the gospel was preaching temple worship and Jerusalem's destruction. When it happened, it would prove God destroyed Jerusalem and temple worship, not Rome. Each of the seven beginnings of sorrows happened. Before the generation passed Roman armies invaded the land. Three Roman generals took apart Philistia plundering every city as Jesus said it would happen. Roman armies put a siege on the city of Jerusalem. Jerusalem fell. Roman soldiers burned Jerusalem and plundered the city. Most important, Rome destroyed the Jewish temple and sacrificial worship. They dismantled the temple as Jesus said it would happen. Not one stone stood upon another. Matthew 24:2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here ONE STONE UPON ANOTHER, that shall not be thrown down. (emphasis added)Close to100,000 Jewish people perished. Rome took those not dead into slavery. No wonder Jesus wept over the nation. Luke 19:41-44 As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, "...The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God's coming to you."The Jews have not rebuilt the temple to this day two thousand years later. Neither is the sacrificial worship system restored. Either's restoration will never happen. The war of AD 70 was the Great Tribulation Jesus warned of in Matthew 24:21. It was the end of the age (Mat 24:3). This is the Book of Revelation's teaching in chapter 4 through chapter 16. It is the revelation God gave Jesus Christ to show John (Rev 1:1). Without understanding this, you will fear the horrors of these chapters of the revelation and false teachings of a future great tribulation will deceive you.
