The Preface of this book begins thus: 'The aim of this book is to assist the reader in understanding the theory of relativity - at a level suited to the mathematically challenged layman (as myself). It is thus an account written for the layman -'by a layman' - whose degrees (in biological sciences) are far removed form maths and physics although, admittedly, they too deal with the behaviour of moving bodies' - if living ones). It is thus intended as an interpretation of certain respected writings in the public domain of this restricted sphere of physics - as by Albert Einstein and Max Born in particular - at a level suited to today's layman.'
