Synopsis

This is a selection of my writings since I realised late in life that being interested in many avenues of Art and Science, I was really master of none. Then I discovered how enjoyable it was for a questing soul to be a writer without any need of attaining specialist mastery. Poetry seemed the answer; where I believe the aim is to create a sort of emotional aesthetic vision rather than dogged exactitude. Up until then I had a passing interest in the classical poets; but I did not find myself so keen on modern writers where, to my mind, their message is often obscure and complicated by what I think of as Cultural Revisionism. By this I mean the urge to move forward to a different or higher level, distinct from the past. This may apply suitably to many Arts; but not to my mind Poetry. I think. pursuit of it has meant poetry now appeals to a smaller literary group than the wider audience it used to have. I believe that poetry in the classical age achieved near perfection; so that is the simple direct style I try to follow.
