Manhattan Clam Chowder is a mixed up soup, but Manhattan 'Clan' Chowder is a delightful and funny mix of historical fiction with the famous Algonquin Manhattes Indians' belief in spirit and their love of earth and tribe, all dished up with a side of time travel ending in Modern New York City (of course)! How these elements tie together is an ingenious plot threaded by satire and romance as we follow Nattahnam, son of Chief Xport, from start to finish. He vehemently disagrees with his father, who has sold Manhattan to the Dutch, but he must separate from his clan, under control of his mysterious totem, to search for his Mohawk-abducted twin sister. From then on reality is well, not reality, but certainly funny, and un-candidly imaginative the way we end up in modern day New York, which though recognizable, has some curious events occurring in it. No matter that some of the dialogue is “vaudeville”; the myriad of characters from the past, present, and possibly future, win our hearts. Make no assumptions as to how the plot unfolds; you will love it when you read “Manhattan Clan Chowder.”
