Gemma Darbon is a Mum of two and has been writing since 2008. Despite being in psychiatric hospitals over 25 admissions, she is now fluent in British Sign Language Level 4 and is seeking voluntary employment. She enjoys family, friendships and nature also. This is her second book. Living life whilst within the bounds of mental illness, Darbon seeks to obtain some closure and give reader some knowledge on how to stay safe through tough times and the journey that her illness has brought her on. This book will give the outsider knowledge and insight into an individual case and her ability to function day-to-day. There can be some hope that functioning can become living, and that living can improve. We can resurface at any given moment. The strengh to do this can sometimes need reassurance, as it can become very complex at times. If you suffer from mental health issues personally, or know someone close who does; this book aims to reach out, give awareness to those who work with/ suffer from/ are close to mental health. It is poetry that has derived from initially suffering until we get to the point where we seek comfort. A recent ephithany was I am enough. You are enough too. Please know that you are not alone in your struggles. Reach out for help. There is nothing to be ashamed about if we sink. It is when we resurface that we actually can capture a moment's worth . It is when we emerge from the depths that we start to swim. Gemma Darbon has previously written A Psychotic Influence: Poems of a Psychotic Journey. She lives in Essex.
