Solace is a beautifully written book that explores God's promises of peace to each of us, even though we live in an increasingly turbulent world. In Solace, Skiver especially focuses on Haggai, a topic which she writes prolifically about. In fact, no other author or Biblical historian has written so extensively on Haggai, which Skiver believes is THE go-to book to help us understand the times we're living in. In Solace, Skiver explains specific things you can do to find peace, even as you watch the world around you disintegrate. She also shares her belief that Jesus will return soon, and that alone should give us peace. With not much time left, Skiver has some suggestions for believers.
Skiver describes herself as a flawed human being who loves God. She is humble and vulnerable, telling of a period of time in which she was bitter toward God and wanted little to do with Him. She admits to having failed God, and others as well. She is relatable; her justification of Jesus' imminent return sensible; and her encouragement for the church is welcome and refreshing.
