Michael Santos was arrested on August 11, 1987. During the 26 years that he served in prisons of every security level, he worked continuously to prepare for a law-abiding, contributing life. He focused on a three-pronged approach that he learned from leaders like Socrates, Mandela, Gandhi, and Viktor Frankl. Michael worked: • To educate himself, • To contribute to society, and • To build a strong support network. By the time that Michael concluded his obligation to the Bureau of Prisons, on August 12, 2013, he had earned an undergraduate degree and a graduate degree. Those credentials empowered him to contribute to society through publishing. And he built an extensive support network. Indeed, while incarcerated Michael found and married the love of his life. Through his published writings, Michael supported his wife and built a savings account that would allow him to return to society strong, with his dignity intact. Within three weeks of concluding his obligation to the Bureau of Prisons, Michael became an adjunct professor at San Francisco State University. He taught for one year. He then embarked upon a career as a prison consultant, speaker, and podcaster with his Earning Freedom program. Those who would like help in overcoming struggle will find an unsurpassed depth and breadth of experience in Michael’s work. An Internet search of his name will yield an abundance of results that will prove helpful in anyone’s due diligence.
