Synopsis

Welcome to the pursuit of Godly wisdom! This 3rd edition of Organized Proverbs has benefited from my present (2024) small group study with several mature men as well as my previous teaching of six to nine sessions each to more than fifty adults. This topical organization uses the open-source New English Translation (NET) Bible® and divides the proverbs into 19 contrasting themes such as wisdom versus vs. foolishness, humility vs. pride, rich vs. poor, guidance vs. self-sufficiency, and speaking vs. listening. Each verse from the Proverbs is covered with some specific proverbs now included in multiple chapters. Each chapter begins with an introductory meditation on the contrasting topics, then lists the relevant proverbs in numeric order, and ends with space for answering questions for personal application and discussion as well as a thoughtful relevant quote from outside the Bible. As you thoughtfully consider these related maxims in each chapter, your insights on the meaning of individual proverbs will become clearer and your life will change as you apply Godly wisdom to daily situations. The final chapter is a numeric index which is sorted in original biblical order and points readers to page number locations of any proverb for easy reference.

À propos de l'auteur

The author's personal study of Proverbs has been of considerable help in living out and teaching a life characterized by wisdom in everyday activities and interactions. Having begun this study of contrasts in wisdom while in graduate school, the author laid aside the manuscript and began his career. Now years later, with the availability of the NET Bible® for publication, he is pleased to publish this practical study for the use of others.
