Synopsis

This book was initially a way of putting my compositions in one place. But after a few pipers took an interest in my tunes, I wanted to make something for pipers to pick up, play and hopefully enjoy. This book includes a handful of competition style 2/4 and 6/8 Marches with a sprinkling of Slow Airs, Waltzes and Strathspeys. But the majority is split between modern style Reels, Jigs and Hornpipes with some stories along the way.

À propos de l?auteur

I first started back in 2006 when I was 13 years old with my local street band Eastbourne Scottish Pipe Band for 7 years where I was appointed Pipe Major for the last few. I also played with Gatwick Caledonian (Grade 4) within that time and guested with Inveraray Nov. Juv. in 2010 picking up 2nd and 3rd prizes at the Major Championships. I was taught by Peter Candy for my first year of piping and was fortunate enough to have relatives in Vancouver. So, naturally, when I visited them for a Christmas holiday in 2006 I got a fair few lessons from players in SFU and Dowco. In 2012 I decided to go off to University and chose the university with a pipe band. So I joined University of Bedfordshire (Grade 2) from 2012 – 2014 where we were breaking into the top 6 on numerous occasions. I had a short time with Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia in 2015 where I performed at the Aberdeen concert with them. I am now playing with Vancouver's Dowco Triumph Street Pipe Band and looking forward to the seasons to come. I come from a town called Hailsham in East Sussex, England and have moved back there after completing my Accounting degree at University of Bedfordshire in Luton. I now work as a Teaching Assistant in the local secondary school with the prospect of starting my teacher training in the next academic year to become a mathematics teacher.
