Synopsis

We live in a culture that promotes pain avoidance. Author Mike Landry, drawing insights he gained from several years in the valleys of adversity, offers living proof that curiously enough, difficulties and the pain of everyday work and living are often the greatest teachers. Advancing Through Adversity offers a very personal story of one entrepreneur’s struggles and fears after being sued by the company he once founded. Business and professional people with a spiritual foundation, as well as those having some curiosity about if and how spiritual and everyday realities intersect, will find this account and its conclusions both interesting and relevant, since there is always conflict in any workplace setting. Competition, an inherent part of any business environment, typically leads to conflict of some sort. And frequently, intense competition and conflict spawn adversity. Even though his story is drawn from the business and professional world, the truths and principles Mike learned through this arduous process have direct application and relevance to anyone’s circumstances. Whether in the home, the neighborhood, on a team at work, a community organization, or in a classroom, conflict and disharmony with others at times are unavoidable. Mike shares his narrative while weaving in the important spiritual principles he experienced and applied along the way, presenting readers with a unique perspective for handling similar circumstances in their own lives. This transformation can actually lead us to a point of gratitude and true appreciation – even while still in the midst of the struggle. After reading this book, you’ll never view the challenges and conflicts encountered in your everyday life the same way again.
