Dr West is a retired general surgeon living in Florida and North Carolina. As a Christian layman, he has come to realized that fellow laymen often lack basic information necessary to evaluate the pressing demands of bioethical issues in our culture. In this book, he presents information gleaned from his studies. In addition, he has presented Christian bioethical information to local churches with enthusiastic reception. Fellow laymen have encouraged him to write this book to assist other laymen, pastors, and physicians in offering this information to their own church bodies. He claims no expertise in any area discussed other than his medical credentials, but presents sound information offered by others on rights, personhood, cultural worldview, and Christian bioethics.
