Ask the average British man or woman to visualize Cornwall, and it's likely their first thoughts would be of beautiful Mediterranean-like beaches, or one of the quaint seaside fishing villages. However, there’s a darker, more eldritch side to Cornwall of which most people, British or from elsewhere, are unaware.
My contributing witnesses have bravely shared their strange stories of UFOs; ghosts; phantom trains, planes, and yes, even automobiles, amongst other weird things. I have written about Cornish folklore and how it may relate to modern ufology, and have even contributed a few of my personal strange experiences in Cornwall.
Cornwall is reputed to be THE most haunted place in Britain (with the possible exception of London) as it has such a diverse range of mysteries; legends; folklore; and history. The abundance of anomalous activities here may have a link with the ubiquitous presence of granite throughout Cornwall, an interesting vein of research that has been mined by Cornish folklorists in the past, my paranormal mentor, the late Michael Williams, was already writing about that possible link when I was just a young lad in the 1960s.
In this, my first volume of 'The Spirit of Cornwall: A Haunted Legacy' we’ll explore 'high-strangeness' in the eastern half of Cornwall, we'll visit some fascinating locations, including a top-secret British/USA government base on a remote North Cornish cliff-top, a haunted, ex-military airfield high on the bleak Bodmin Moor, plus various haunted pubs, cafes, and churches too. You will read about vibrant Cornish characters like the 'Stratton Giant' who fought in the English Civil War, an eccentric Victorian vicar, and a famous novelist who based several of her best-known works on Cornish places and characters.
Over these two volumes of 'The Spirit of Cornwall: A Haunted Legacy' (vol 2 is also available on Amazon) you’ll learn how the RAF has frequently pursued UFOs in Cornish air space, and about the latest, cutting-edge, technical developments in paranormal research. I discuss how modern quantum-science relates to the paranormal/supernatural/UFOs, and muse on the true nature of reality and consciousness. You will read about Cornish poltergeist activity, strange orb lights, and legendary tales of a sunken land off the far western coast. I also discuss the old customs and superstitions of Cornish tin miners and fishermen, and explain how Cornish folklore customs ‘emigrated' to the U.S. (and other overseas territories) alongside those Cornish people, but not just in the obvious way that you might expect!
