Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book sets out to challenge in-depth the prevalent and damaging doctrine of scriptural inerrant divinity. The author argues that faith in Christ does not require adherents to believe in a finite Redeemer; on the contrary, our God must be our rock, who gives himself for his people, not who demands the lives of his flock. The book defines God as a rational, volitive, and sensitive spirit, possessed of faculties and sentiments like ourselves, but without imperfections"and that in order to turn and unite us to him, by a kindred love, He assumed a human form. The author believes the Bible should not be taken literally"but rather as a set of stories that contain important truths and lessons that can help guide our actions. The author argues that if we are like God, God is like us, continuing to state that the names, the nature, the character, the actions, and the government of God are all ascribed to Christ. Both in the Old and in the New Testaments, the same, or a like history of God is recorded. By understanding the Bible in this way, we can see that it is a source of great wisdom and comfort, offering a path to salvation and redemption for all mankind. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
