Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book presents an exploration of the geography and geology of the northeastern district of Saskatchewan and adjacent parts of the District of Keewatin. These explorers surveyed rivers and lakes forming canoe routes and lines of travel through the interior of the country, which was largely unknown to geographers at that time. The author uses their surveys as a basis for a detailed examination of the rock formations and soils in the area, with notes on the natural products, gardening, climate, and the Cree (or Nahathaway) Indians who sparsely populated the region. The work includes extensive tables and lists of glacial striations, fossils, and rock analysis that contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the geology of this vast and previously uncharted territory. Their findings furthered the contemporary understanding of the geological processes that shaped this part of the continent.
