The author begins by outlining the history of neuroglia staining techniques, highlighting the identification of characteristic markings in ependymal cellsâ"a key finding that is critical to distinguishing these cells from others. The author then presents the three case studies, providing detailed descriptions of the tumors' macroscopic and microscopic appearances. Notably, they identify the presence of the characteristic ependymal cell markings in the cells of all three gliomata, confirming their ependymal origin. Of particular interest is the third tumor, which was located subcutaneously over the coccyx. This finding challenges the long-held belief that gliomata develop solely within the central nervous system. The author concludes by discussing the broader implications of these findings, suggesting that ependymal cells may have the potential to differentiate into both epidermal-like cells and neuroglia tissue.
