Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book explores the relationship between the size and shape of steel samples and their cooling rates when immersed in different coolants. Drawing from meticulous experiments, the authors have established that under specific cooling conditions, the time taken for the center of a steel sample to cool to a certain point is inversely proportional to the surface area of the sample relative to its volume, raised to a power between 1 and 2. Additionally, the authors found that the time required for the center of a steel sample to experience an initial 2% temperature drop, which they term 'lag', increases with the size of the sample and is influenced by the cooling medium, being greater in slower coolants like air compared to faster coolants like water. These findings provide a robust framework for predicting the cooling behavior of steel samples of varying dimensions and shapes when quenched in coolants, offering valuable insights for optimizing heat treatment processes in industrial settings. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N° de réf. du vendeur 9781527839151_0
