The author presents a comprehensive review of the literature on thermal radiation properties of various materials and a summary of efforts towards spectral emittance computation for rhodium. It details the development of a preliminary analysis that estimates absolute reflectance measurements with the instrument will not exceed 2 percent of original values. Standards of spectral emittance are compared to literature values to determine working standards of normal spectral emittance. These values are comparable to values computed from the Hagen-Rubens equation. The author concludes by discussing the significance of the instrument in measuring thermal radiation properties of materials.
