Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book examines artificial compression methods (ACM) in computational fluid dynamics. The author presents a novel computational method for calculating discontinuous solutions of hyperbolic systems of conservation laws, in particular contact discontinuities. The author provides a detailed analysis that explains why the narrowness of shock transition is due to a global kind of convexity of the flux function. The idea of the ACM method is to modify standard finite difference schemes by adding an artificial flux term that has this property. The analysis and numerical tests show that the ACM is capable of producing an arbitrarily narrow transition of shocks and contact discontinuities. This book provides computational scientists with a valuable tool for solving problems involving discontinuities in fluid dynamics. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. N° de réf. du vendeur 9781528004404_0
