Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book investigates the origin of springs in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Rapid population growth in the Las Vegas Valley has increased demands for water supply, and exploration and development of groundwater may impact groundwater systems to the north and west. The author investigates the hydrology and hydrogeochemistry of selected springs in the Lake Mead and Black Canyon areas, identifying three main types of source areas: local groundwater systems; groundwater outside local systems; and springs influenced by Lake Mead water. The author analyzes chemical and isotopic data to delineate groundwater source areas and flow paths, with specific focus on potential impacts to spring discharge from large-scale development of groundwater resources. This study provides valuable information for the management and protection of spring resources near Lake Mead, and contributes to our understanding of groundwater systems in the broader region. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
