Paperback. Etat : New. Print on Demand. This book is a roundup of the Southern Rhodesia Missionary Conference held in Bulawayo in June 1938. The conference was attended by missionaries from various societies, representatives from the Government, and members of the Native Missionary Conference. The main topics discussed were religious education, higher education, the school calendar, a uniform scale of teachers' salaries, Order 676 of 1929, headmasters' conferences, cooperation regarding disciplined teachers and pupils, Native Land Board, land for Natives in urban areas, and taxation of students at boarding schools. The conference also passed resolutions on various issues, including the provision of additional accommodation and facilities in government hospitals for African patients, the training of African nurses and midwives, and the need for technical education for African youths. The book provides valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing missionaries and educators working in Southern Rhodesia during the colonial period and highlights the importance of collaboration and dialogue in addressing issues of education, healthcare, and social justice.
