In 1973, the NCSBCS organized with the support of the National Bureau of Standards to establish uniform building codes and standards across state lines. The original objective of the NCSBCS was to promote reasonable national uniformity in the regulation of buildings and the acceptance of industrialized buildings crossing state lines. The author presents a record of the conference business including presentations from federal officials such as Commissioner Kushner from the newly formed Consumer Products Safety Commission, who detailed the Commission's plans to address the safety hazards of architectural glass, bathtubs, and other structural components of the home.
