The author has added a variety of questions for solution under each rule, to solve and illustrate all questions which involve a new principle or the new applications of a principle already explained. The rules are generally derived from practical exercises, and are distinctly and in form stated. The book contains many investigations and new discoveries relating to the best methods of instruction, not found in any other similar publication. The object of the author is to supply the great want that has long been felt by teachers of Arithmetic, which he hopes will prove both useful and important to society, and recommends the work to parents, teachers, and friends of improvement.
