The purpose of this compilation is to provide town, city and village officers with a collection of the laws of the state relat ing to the powers and duties of their office with respect to the assessment and collection of taxes. The statutes relating to taxation constitute a large part of the statutory law of this state and a compilation including all of such statutes would be im practicable for the purposes for which this compilation is pre pared. It has been the aim of the compiler to include only those laws which relate to the duties of the assessor and the tax collector, and other Officers dealing directly with them with respect to the assessment of property for taxation and the col lection of taxes.
