Synopsis

Few people would admit to following a master, but everyone has done so at one time or another. A master in Bible times was an honored instructor or rabbi. They not only imparted knowledge, but trained their followers to become all that God desired. Jesus was often referred to by enemy and friend as, "Master." Do we really understand what that means today? A disciple is one who follows a master and adjusts his/her thinking and lifestyle to match His teachings. Jesus called many to follow him. Twelve responded, and then He taught them what genuine disciples look and act like. In this book, you will learn from Jesus' teachings what He considers a true follower or disciple. You will gain insight into the Master's requirements. Everyone follows a master - even if they do not believe in God. Someone or something is granted the privilege of influencing or shaping our lives. Each person chooses. Some are shaped by celebrities and others by philosophies. We pattern our lives and even our habits after those we value most. Are you prepared to choose a new Master? He is the one who said, “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. All of you, take up My yoke and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for yourselves. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30 HCSB)

À propos de l?auteur

Casey has served in ministry as a pastor for over forty years. A gifted Bible teacher, his ministry helps people live practical Christian lives by applying basic Christian principles. His first book, When a Good Church Goes Bad shares his testimony. He gave his life to Christ and joined a dynamic church, where he trained for full time ministry, met and married his wife Patti and eventually became an associate pastor. Over time, this once dynamic church, on track to become a mega-church embraced teachings that led to its eventual decline. Today, the former church headquarters is a horse farm. When A Good Church Goes Bad is designed to help people assess the problems they face in their own churches and also helps victims of spiritual abuse to find their way back to spiritual health. His second book, Titanic Warning examines church leadership through the lives of four ship captains in the area on the night the Titanic sank. Each possessed a worldview that determined the destiny of the great ship and those who survived. Is this a prophetic warning for today's church? Together with his wife Patti, four grown children and their spouses, Casey currently serves as a Sr. leader of Motion Church (mymotionchurch.com). He also helps organize weekly gatherings of local leaders for prayer, support and strategic outreach. Casey's weekly podcast and blog can be found @ www.ministerstoolbox.com.
