Synopsis

Five Hundred Words For Snow is a collection of both prize-winning and unpublished short stories by the author Ceri A Lowe, charting the journey through childhood to becoming an adult. It is about about the half-truths and lies we tell ourselves and each other every day. Set in an eclectic range of locations from Neath through New Orleans and beyond, each story focuses on a different element of the emotions we experience through childhood and the profound impact tiny events can have upon us as adults. With influences from Poland, Lithuania and the USA amongst others, each story illustrates how our own journeys can be unravelled in a lightening flash – through one white lie or a misunderstanding and change the course of a lifetime, for ever. Covering themes that span abandonment, childhood death, guilt, love, 911, ASD, betrayal and the intrinsic nature of human hope, each story is carefully crafted to question the fabric of how we live and how we view and judge those around us. Poignant, thoughtful and provocative, Five Hundred Words For Snow will touch your heart and penetrate your soul.

À propos de l'auteur

Ceri A. Lowe was born in Neath, South Wales and writes short stories under the name of Ceri Lowe-Petraske. Living part time in Bristol, England and part time in Cardiff, Wales she has various obsessions including all things Spanish, travelling, refurbishing houses and, of course, writing. When she’s not writing, Ceri can be found providing project management and consultancy services to financial services companies. Thankfully, none of her stories are inspired by this. In the last few years she’s won the Exeter Short Story Award, Global Short Stories annual prize, the Flash 500 Award, the Story Star Publishing Prize and the Writers’ Forum Short Story competition. In June 2014, she published PARADIGM, the first instalment in the Paradigm Trilogy, a dystopian YA series set in a post-apocalyptic world. The second instalment of the trilogy, DEADLANDS, is due to be published in 2016.
