Silvia Morell Alderman's world took a dramatic turn on November 11, 1960, when, as an eight year old, she accompanied her mother to Miami, Florida, the day before her father resigned as justice of the Cuban Supreme Court. Her childhood interrupted, she became an observer of the Cuban – American history that was unfolding before her, including the Bay of Pigs invasion, in which her brother participated, the Missile Crisis, and her father's U.S.-sponsored missions to Latin America, to gain support for the liberation of Cuba. In these memoirs of her parents told from the perspective of her mother, she shares the stories she witnessed as well as stories from the amazing past of her freedom fighter parents dating back to the Cuba of the 1930s. Silvia graduated with a B.S. from Chadron State College and a Juris Doctor from Florida State University. She is an environmental lawyer and lives in Tallahassee, Florida with her husband Michael. Silvia and Michael have a son, Matthew.
