Double thumb pot modelling. The animals and figures contained in this book were developed over the years and have been used to introduce an important branch of clay modelling to students namely thumb pots. The figures are built up from simple shapes to which the students can relate, the body shape made using thumb pot techniques. Each project has an element of decision making and measurement built into the worksheet with self-expression encouraged in the decoration and design details applied to each model which becomes an individual creation. Double thumb pot creation is studied in this project book. We look into representing large and small animal figures and a rounded human shape in Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee and we also explore modelling human heads. Some of the figures are based on a round hollow profile and some have an oval shape as a body. This branch of clay modelling lends itself to all kinds of innovations and our suggestions represent a few for you to expand on and develop, we teach you the basic techniques, the rest is up to you and your imagination. Enjoy your clay modelling. Brian. Please visit our website for more information. bmpotterycrafts.co.uk

Author Biography. Brian Rollins. Engineer by trade, potter by conviction. I have always enjoyed drawing and painting and changed to 3 dimensions in producing pottery almost 30 years ago. Over the years we have worked mainly with children in local schools and at Haigh Hall Country Park in Wigan where we had a craft unit base for almost 25 years. Working as B & M Potterycrafts with Maureen, my wife. I taught pottery in college for ten years working with children and adults with special educational needs. Having an engineering background all the projects that we developed over the years are documented. I have started developing this information to create project style manuals tutorials and interactive video courses based on our books to pass the knowledge on to interested parties. I have also made interactive videos of the projects for use on computer screens or interactive whiteboards in schools. Enjoy your clay modelling. Brian. www.bmpotterycrafts.co.uk
