Synopsis

Thirty Days in November is the fifth book from Bob Hocking.Challenging himself to write thousands of words in a month, at a pace of more than a new essay each day, Bob created dozens of rough drafts during two separate months of November. He returned to those efforts, revising and editing and proofreading, and ultimately brought together the thirty essays that create this narrative journey. As the world rapidly moves toward inflatable lawn decorations for every conceivable celebration, pumpkin flavored anything, and technology that’s updated quite literally as you are using it, the investment of just a moment to watch it all passing by can offer some refreshing perspective.Bob navigates around thoughts that includes the starting points of holiday decorating, the enjoyment of seasonal delights, and the frustrations of e-mail. He ponders the interruptions of his partners-in-procrastination, Molly and Gus. And he finds that cherished traditions can offer a pretty sweet sense of family and community.

À propos de l'auteur

Bob Hocking has authored five books as of the 2016 release of Thirty Days in November. A graduate of Syracuse University, his professional endeavors have covered a diverse selection of subjects – as wide ranging as medical to finance, training and development to customer service – while calling upon his communication abilities, writing skills, and occasionally even his bachelor’s degree in English. In March of 2003, Bob brought his writing efforts his own web site, In My Backpack. (www.inmybackpack.com) Over the years, the site has included material in such areas as general interest, sports and travel. He has also produced interviews and captured the flavors-of-the-day in an on-going monthly journal. Bob has conducted hundreds of interviews, many of which have appeared in full or in part on his site. Some of the people he has met and worked with on projects include: Tom Colicchio, Suzi Quatro, Earl Swift, Jimmy Haslip, Terry Fator, Jerry Springer, and Emilio Estefan. He primarily considers himself “a writer with a camera”, though that concept understates a sizeable portfolio of professional work. On his web site, photo galleries exist for several entertainers, as well as a feature on the award-winning exhibition Diana: A Celebration. His photographs have been used by groups such as Legends in Concert. Born and raised in Rhode Island, Bob currently lives with his wife, Terry in the northeast United States.
