Deanna Hansen-Doying runs a tearoom on Saba in the Netherlands Antilles. She arrived on the tiny, five-square-mile island in search of a better life—or so she tells herself. In reality, she’s running from God.
Life on the gentle Caribbean island is peaceful, but the quiet only gives Deanna’s unresolved demons opportunities to haunt her. Her business is successful, her home beautiful, but she still feels lonely, empty, and dissatisfied as a great hole gapes in the core of her soul. Her friend Ruth, a strong Christian, knows what is missing, but Deanna isn’t ready to change. Not until Faithfully Mine enters her life.
Faithfully Mine is a kitten—barely a week-old—pushed into Deanna’s hand by a young boy. The kitten’s mother is dead, and she’s hungry and cold. She needs someone to care for her, and although she dislikes cats, Deanna will be that someone.
Through the trust of a tiny kitten, Deanna will discover coming to God need not include fanfare, fireworks, or choirs of angels singing. Instead, her awakening will mirror the peace and contentment of a warm kitten snuggling under her shirt on a hot tropical night.
