Pat Dixon is a professional engineer working in the field of automation and control of industrial facilities like oil refineries, power plants, paper mills, and other such operations. He owns the consulting company www.DPAS-INC.com. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on February 3, 1964, he spent his childhood in Mentor, Ohio, and went to Archbishop Alter High School in Dayton, OH. He played football in high school and rose from obscurity by breaking his femur in a game during his junior year. Pat attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, majoring in Paper Science and Engineering. After surviving a first semester 2.0 GPA he steadily improved his grades over a five-year undergraduate program while working alternating semesters at a paper mail in Maine. Upon graduation in 1987 he went to Phoenix, Arizona to work for Honeywell while also working as a high school basketball official. In 1997 he moved to Austin, Texas to work for Pavilion Technologies, and a year later began a contract assignment with DuPont in Richmond, Virginia ,where he was introduced to choral singing. Upon return to the Austin area Pat joined the Texas Choral Consort (www.TXConsort.org) and served on the board of directors. He was also involved as a crew leader and board member of the Central Texas TrailTamers (www.TrailTamers.org). This organization builds and maintains hiking trails. In 2015 he hiked the Continental Divide Trail - approximately 3,000 miles from the Mexican border to the Canadian border over a six-month period. Pat became chair of the Travis County Libertarian Party in 2002, and served as chair of the Libertarian Party of Texas from 2004 until 2014. He was twice elected to city council in Lago Vista, Texas. In 2014 the Libertarian Party gave him the Thomas Jefferson Leadership Award.
