Synopsis

Sometimes things have to get worse before they can get better. And for Marvin Howard, his early life would take a turn for the very worst before he would go on to find success in life, family, and faith. In I Made It on Broken Pieces, author Marvin Howard shares his autobiographical memoir that chronicles his life from homelessness to superintendence, as he grows up in a broken home yet from those pieces finds a way to put his life together. Relying on his youthful dreams and hopes, Marvin was able to create a new family with his teachers at school, and with this new sense of pride he earned success in athletics before attending college and himself becoming an educator. Yet in the end, his story is one of faith, as he is called to the ministry to pastor and help improve the lives of his loved ones, his students, and his congregation. The Rev. Dr. Marvin Howard is an example of how we can make it through the tough times in life—even the worst of times. With perseverance and dreams, Marvin was able to change his own life and go on to make a difference in the lives of the people in his community. As he says, “If God brings you to it, he will bring you through it.”
