Judith M. Berkman, a retired school psychologist, observed young children and adolescents throughout her career. As a mother she observed her own children over the years and through adulthood. But it wasn't until she had grandchildren that she began to appreciate the extraordinary emotional life, imagination, and ingenuity of infants and toddlers in real time. This book was written as a fictional attempt to capture a piece of the personalities of all four of her grandchildren, whose very existence, curiosity, humor, and wonder have been a source of unending inspiration.
