The definition of a Renaissance man is a person with many talents or areas of knowledge. Dr. Mondrian Contreras’ middle name is literally Renaissance. Mondrian Renaissance Contreras DVM is the owner of Carol Stream Animal Hospital outside Chicago. Dr. Contreras’ early life was devoted to athletics and art. He played football at the University of Illinois and graduated in 2002 with an Art History Degree. While creativity and athleticism are still very much apart of his life, his focus gravitated toward Veterinary medicine. He worked as Veterinary Assistant from 2003 - 2006 at the John Young Parkway Animal Hospital in Orlando, FL. Mondrian was accepted to both the University of Tuskegee and University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. He chose Florida for its distinguished reputation. While pursuing his degree, his wife Bridget and Mondrian had twin sons: Thomas & Matisse who now host a web series called “The Vet Bros” dedicated to educating owners and families about how to care for their pets. Upon graduation Dr. Contreras moved his growing family to Illinois where he participated in a year-long internship program at VCA (nationwide specialty hospital), and then accepted an Associate Veterinarian position in July 2011. By January 2015 he became the sole owner of Carol Stream Animal Hospital. Outside of his responsibilities at the hospital, he makes time to speak at schools and community programs about veterinary care.
