Into the West: A New Home
Part Two of the First Book in The Territories Saga Serials Collection

Thanks to their caseworker, Mrs. Kelly, Elizabeth and Conner MacBride make it onto the orphan train heading into the West. Mrs. Kelly is reluctant to part with the children as she struggles with the agreement she was forced to make with Sister Mary Clare to keep the children on the train.

If Mrs. Kelly keeps her promise, she will keep her job, but she may break the hearts of Elizabeth and Conner in the process. As the train heads into the Kansas Territory to make one final stop, Mrs. Kelly must make a hard decision. Should she place the children in separate homes with strangers or return them to the Catholic Foundling Aid Society's home in New York City? Something she does not want to do.

Finding a new home in a small cowtown in the Wild West will be a new and frightening experience for Elizabeth and Conner. With the help of a few good people, they might be able to make a new life for themselves. Will Mrs. Kelly have to sacrifice her job to do what she believes is best for the children, or can she find a solution with which they can all live?

À propos de l?auteur

Stephen Burckhardt was born in and raised in and around the Wichita, KS area. As a child, Stephen lived for a few years on a ranch near Benton, KS. This is where Stephen developed a deep love for all things western. Being a proud member of the Cherokee nation only deepened his interest in history, animals, and native traditions.
After earning a degree in journalism from Wichita State University (WSU), Stephen spent years writing for various publications and eventually worked as a ghostwriter. One of his early assignments was writing a western for Luis Antwoord titled, Western: In the Company of Thieves. It was after this project, Stephen developed an insatiable desire to continue writing westerns under his own name.
To reach a wider market, Stephen decided to write his books as serial novellas instead of full novels in hopes of appealing to busy people who don't have the time to sit and read full novels.
Stephen also holds a degree in forensic criminology from WSU and had planned at one time to become a firearms and tool-marks examiner. Stephen has also studied business at WSU and was working on a third degree in nutrition when his life took a turn he never saw coming.
In 2013, Stephen met and married the love of his life, P.R. Burckhardt, whom he truly considers to be his "better half." The couple was married at The Old Cowtown Museum in Wichita, KS. The couple hopes to one day return to ranch living and have a personal menagerie of rescue animals. They currently live with their rescue dog, Shaggy.
