Each of the fourteen chapters is illustrated by C. E. Watson and M. E. Kibler, with 28 B/W works of art depicting the characters and scenes and includes the original storyboard hand drawings by C. E. Watson.

C. E. Watson wrote Murder on 48th in the style of classic noir hardcore detective fiction genre. The story is a psycho-thriller hunt for a derranged serial killer, set in Chicago, 1943, and narrated in first person by the main character. He first produced the script as an audio book, a sound track complete with background score, featured lyric songs and sound effects and professional vocal artists to portray characters. The hardcopy book is the transcript of the narrator's dialogue, his inner thoughts, character dialogue, prose descriptions of characters and some backstory, the settings for each scene, and descriptions of the music and sound effects sound track. C. E. Watson is an ASU Herberger Institute of Design and Art composer and musician, world-class classical guitarist, and Indy and Nashville recording artist. He has an impressive discography including 25 albums, is a seasoned and featured performing musician and vocalist, and a music performance and theory instructor for Arizona Music Academy since 2005. He has also composed for theater and dance troup performances.
