Synopsis

The Love of God Must be Felt in the Heart

“You may trust love to get you out of difficulties. There is nothing too hard for it to accomplish for you, if you put your confidence in it.”

"We may talk about the wisdom of God, but the love of God must be felt in the heart. It cannot be described, and one who has not felt it can have no concept of it from the descriptions of others. But the more we talk about love, the stronger it grows in the consciousness and speaking loving words, we are sure to bring into our experience the feeling of that great love that is beyond description - the very love of God.”

“The image and likeness of our spiritual body is as thoroughly defined in us as is the tree in the acorn. Does the acorn consult anything outside of itself as to how it should bring forth a tree? Certainly not. It simply rests in Spirit and unfolds from moment to moment as moved by the impulse within. Exactly the same law is operative in bringing forth the God man. The external, striving, wandering will must stop its restless seeking without, and repose at the center. It must be obedient to that center, and learn the language of Spirit.”

"The personal consciousness is like a house with all the doors and windows barred. The doors and the windows of the mind are concrete ideas, and they swing open when the right word is spoken to them. Jesus Christ voiced a whole volume of right words. If you will take up His sayings and make them yours, they will open all the doors of your mind, the light will come in, and you will in due time be able to step forth."

À propos de l?auteur

Charles Fillmore was an innovative thinker, a pioneer in metaphysical thought at a time when most religious thought in American was entirely orthodox. He was a lifelong advocate of the open, inquiring mind, and he took pride in keeping abreast of the latest scientific and educational discoveries and theories. Many years ago he wrote, "What you think today may not be the measure of your thought tomorrow;" and it seems likely that were he to compile this book today, he might use different metaphors, different scientific references, and so on.
