Synopsis

Expanding the Horizon! Part two of our journey around the world takes us to places off the beaten track through Southeast Asia, over the world’s highest passes to the stunning high altitude mountain scenery of the Himalayas and through sensitive countries such as Pakistan, Iran and Iraq.Striking a balance between the courage to stand up for our own beliefs and respect for other cultures and customs on the other hand is often frustratingly difficult. However, together with many other challenges it also determines our “inner journey” simultaneously. Many times the success of our world trip is at a tipping point and to “grit our teeth and hold out” becomes a familiar phrase. Among manifold insights into our life “on the road”, we also don’t ignore the last major challenge: Our return and social-reintegration which consumes a lot of our strength and energy.

À propos de l'auteur

Who are the Motorcycle Vagabonds? Frank is the writer and Simone is the photographer of the team. Frank (born 1968) used to work in a suit and tie as a manager in charge of 50 people at a financial institution. Survived several nasty mergers, outsourcings and financial crisis until he understood that the latest disaster was a chance to change his life. Now he writes books and articles for magazines and is a well-known presenter for motorcycle travel themes. Simone (born 1974) was a florist in her former life and still is a passionate expert for plants. She has a big heart for animals. After our return from the atw-trip she wanted to do something more social and has become a nurse. Besides the social aspect, this profession has the advantage that there is a massive overdemand, which makes it easy to leave for a few months of Motorcycle Vagabond life and get a new job as soon as we are back home.
