Synopsis

CaoDai is a universal faith promoting harmonious and peaceful unity between humans regardless of religious backgrounds. It was founded by the Supreme Being’s spirit by spiritism, a communication between God and Humans. It professes that human beings are a spark of God’s sacred energy among others including microorganisms, plants, fish, birds, and animals. This spark from the Divine Spirit realizes the link between living beings and provides humans with a hope in the quest for eternity. We need to transcend all outside physical differences whether from races, religions, professions, or languages in order to see each other as members of one single spiritual family. We are all voyagers in the spiritual journey in the universe and live on the planet earth as one of the stops in our journey. We all have to love and serve each other as members of the same spiritual family and have the important duty in the maintenance of harmony on earth, the harmony of the natural order - or the mechanism of creation and transformation. During our long journey in life, prayers have an important role uniting us to superior spirits guiding us in every step of our path. CaoDai daily prayers consist of prayers dedicated to the Supreme Being, the Buddha, the Immortal, the Saint, and the Mother Goddess. The prayers help people to realize the oneness of everything in the universe. The secular prayers deal with all secular occasions in life, guide people to live in harmony with all living beings according to the natural law of justice. Prayers help purify people, bring them closer to their divine origin.

Hum Dac Bui, MD and Hong Dang Bui, MD came to the United States in 1975 and began sharing the Religious Unity and Oneness of CaoDai teachings with the Western world. They studied and surveyed the teachings of the various world religions, showing them to share many of the same values and commitments. They have participated in interfaith activities in Rome; Mt Hiei, Japan; Cape Town, South Africa, Barcelona, Spain, Canada, and in the United States. They translate CaoDai teachings into English and maintain the CaoDai organization web page . They currently participate in the monthly Inland Valley interfaith celebration, and are leading a bimonthly program “the Journey to Bliss” which includes life topics discussion and meditation at the CaoDai Center in Anaheim. They are running the New Hope Free Clinic in Redlands, which provides care to underserved people in the Inland Empire.
