Kenneth and Flora Edgar have been married for over fifty years and have been helping children even longer. Originally from the great state of Texas, they’ve lived in several states, helping start therapeutic wilderness camps based on the model developed by Campbell Loughmiller in the late 1940’s. These residential camps have been the Edgars’ life work. They are in awe of God’s goodness through the years and know that He is the source of their success. That is the purpose of this little book: to bring glory to God by telling of what He has done in the life of Ken and Flora and through therapeutic camping. There are no space ships, magic rings, stolen treasures, or paupers turning into princes in this book. It’s simply the short stories of two ordinary people and how they became involved in a series of unique adventures while helping hurting children. Enjoy these “reflections along the trail” as they look back on their lives and share their story.

After over fifty years of marriage, Kenneth and Flora Edgar are still devoted to their family, therapeutic camping, and the Lord Jesus. They consider themselves ordinary people, serving a faithful God and wanting to share about Him. They have a little black and white dog named Cookie and live close to their son and his family in upstate South Carolina. Amber Bateman worked at Wilderness Way Camp in South Carolina for four years, where she was inspired by the camp’s founders, Ken and Flora Edgar. She co-authored Reflections Along the Trail and counts the experience a true privilege. Her own journey at the camp can be found in her book, Little Women in the Wilderness. Amber and her husband Greg are recently married and enjoy international travel and the performing arts.
