Synopsis

Chorus! is the second of a trilogy of plays based on the classic fairy stories from the Brothers Grimm collection. Written to be read aloud and acted out it tells the tale of the Musicians of Bremen through drama and verse, and includes background historical notes on the story so that teachers and parents can help children understand its origins.The third title to be published in 2017 will be Spin! based on Rumpelstiltskin. Barry Upton has enjoyed a career as a teacher and leader of Drama in English secondary schools as well as running youth theatres in Yorkshire, Cheshire and Nottinghamshire. He has also performed one-man Shakespeare workshops for primary schools across the country. He has written and directed youth productions over the past 40 years and undertaken tours in Europe and USA including with an original youth production of Joan of Arc at The Edinburgh Festival. Subject material has varied: from Arthurian legend to Stories of the Pilgrim Fathers; from Joan of Arc to Anne Frank. Barry has also written extensively on using technology within the Arts and more recently had three novels published in both electronic and paperback form. These are also available from Amazon: Going Home (2014) a novel following the lives of a family across three generations. The Balcony (2015) a crime/mystery novella based on the island of Malta. The Academy (2016) a story set in a Midlands Secondary School. Piper was the first play in a trilogy based on the stories collected by The Brothers Grimm and Chorus is the second.
