Close Reading is not a thing. It is not a skill. It is not a big idea. It is not new. In this eBook, Michael Fisher explores the somewhat misinterpreted close reading standard. He shares an enhanced collection of observations, resources, expanded and reimagined blog posts, and additional commentaries on the English Language Arts Common Core State Standards in general with a particular emphasis on the ELA CCSS Anchor Standard 1, otherwise known as the close reading standard, for both Reading Literature and Reading Informational texts. Chock full of links and resources, this eText gives you ‘beyond the book’ access to resources that include a complete reimagining of the instructional shifts, samples of lesson and unit plans that leverage both analytical reading and multimedia, and ideas / resources for building your web tool toolbox to take close reading to a whole new realm.
