The Ball Is In Our Court...When we pray, "Thy kingdom come…." we may think, "Okay God, whenever You're ready bring on the Kingdom." We assume by asking God for the Kingdom to come we are giving God "permission" to send the kingdom when He's ready. It's up to God. We're ready. So, why hasn't the kingdom come? Certainly nothing is lacking on the Father's part. But, what if it's up to us. That might be a big leap. How can we make the Kingdom come? When we say "Thy will" it focuses our attention away from "our" will. When we pray, "on earth as it is in heaven..." we must submit our ego to God's plan.First, let us remember it is not by our own actions, through our own talents, but only in cooperation with the grace of God that we accomplish any good. With the grace of God all things are possible; even making the kingdom more present.Relying on our spiritual growth in living the Gospel to bring about the kingdom may seem beyond possibility, yet Jesus makes it very clear how we bring good and grace into the world. In his book, A Deacon Prays The Our Father, Deacon Larry Koebel, Sr. meditates on the The Lord's Prayer, sharing the meaning line by line.
