Synopsis
"S. R. Crockett", was a prolific Scottish novelist. The success of J. M. Barrie and the Kailyard school of sentimental, homey writing had already created a demand for stories in Lowland Scots, when Crockett published his successful The Stickit Minister in 1893, followed by a rapidly produced series of popular novels frequently featuring the history of Scotland or his native Galloway. The Raiders is Crockett’s best known book, a Stevensonian action adventure romance that will hold a reader, particularly one interested in 18th century and smuggling. It is the first novel of a trilogy, with The Dark o’ the Moon’ and Silver Sand.
