Synopsis

Have you ever wondered why Christians would attempt to praise the Lord with heavy guitars and loud drums? Could guttural screams actually be glorifying to Him? Enter Sacred Metalcore for a research-based investigative-look at the Christian metal scene. Journey across a survey of the key scholarship in this narrow field to gain a background on the movement, and then join Paul Lattimer as he explores the sub-culture’s influence upon three key manifestations of Christianity: Worship, Mission, and Teaching. This is not a novel. This is not a devotional text. It’s an academic study of the Christian metal scene.

À propos de l'auteur

Growing up in Hudson, OH, Paul Lattimer moved to Ashland University for college in 2009. He thought that he would be a high school math teacher, but God had different plans! On a spring break (mission trip) to Las Vegas, NV, he met his wife Micaela and gained a radical passion for Christian evangelism, in the best sense of the word "radical." Returning from the trip, Lattimer was conflicted: Should he drop out of college during his freshman year to become a missionary with the international, interdenominational group YWAM? Or should he stay in college like his Mom suggested. Ultimately, Lattimer decided to trust his mother, yet he changed his major from Integrated Mathematics to Religion because his heart could not come to peace with staying in college if his program's focus was anything other than preparation for a life in full-time, Christian ministry. Lattimer married Micaela Shelton on December 11, 2011, and they've had a mixed spread of three to five kids ever since (depending on whether you count live-in nieces and nephews as your own.) Paul and Micaela journeyed through the continent of Asia on a ten month mission trip to tell people that God's love for them is real. Lattimer published one other book, LionHeart: The Process of Encountering God and Being Activated by His Holy Spirit (CreateSpace, 2015), to date. And he graduated from Ashland Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Practical Theology in May, 2016. You can check out his new blog on ChristCoreBrethren.blogspot.com \m/ \m/
