Synopsis
As Americans, we’re not unfamiliar with the fact that many areas of Africa are still disadvantaged in multiple ways. Hospitals don’t have the supplies they need, AIDS is a lingering threat, incest and sexual assault are stoically accepted, and countless families go without enough to eat.
It’s easy to read and understand all that, but seeing it in person touched Kay Cassidy West in a way that nothing had before. Previously obsessive about germs and unsure of the real impact she could make, she trusted in God and followed his lead to Swaziland, where she was overwhelmed with tenderness for its people.
Wanting to help out however possible, West led Bible studies, drove ailing villagers to the medical clinic, distributed food and blankets, and sang hymns by candlelight. Though the local women were used to being treated as second-class citizens, she forged beautiful relationships with them and showed them God’s love every step of the way.

À propos de l'auteur
Kay Cassidy West holds an associate’s degree in ministry and a master’s degree in counseling. Prior to becoming a missionary, she was a women’s ministry leader, a music instructor and worship team member, a pastoral counselor, and a volunteer for Moms in Prayer International and at a shelter for pregnant women. West had been active in both her church and her local community, but God had different plans in store for her life. She and her husband sold their possessions, left their successful careers, and moved across the world to Swaziland to share his love. Refiner’s Fire contains stories from that adventure.
