the author was born in 1938 and spent most of his working life in aviation. During that time he accumulated nearly 20 thousand hours of flying time, the majority of that time was as a flight instructor and an FAA examiner. He soloed in 1965 at the age of 27 and accumulated his private, commercial, flight instructor, instrument, multi engine and airline transport rating during that time.
