Douglas Malewicki was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1939. He is an engineer/inventor with a Master's degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Stanford. Like most engineers, he looks at anything mechanical, flying or otherwise, with new ideas on how to improve them. He believes we live in fascinating technical times and wants to make life safer, last longer, and be more fun and interesting for all. Malewicki's first Amazon book "FIT AT 75!" was written because as he got older, he began thinking "Gee, life on planet earth is fun. What are the things we can all do to stay healthy and prolong that joy". That book indicates what he thinks it takes. He stays active trail running, cycling and backpacking. Since he turned 65 he has finished a dozen ultra 50K's (31 mile) races and six TransRockies 120 mile, 6 day stage races. After age 70, he earned 22 in a row 1st places in age. This past Labor Day (2016) Doug ran the Mount Baldy Run to the Top; a race that starts at 6,000' elevation and finishes at the summit at 10,064 feet elevation and yes, he garnered one more 1st place in age. For his 77th birthday (March 2016), he got high, really high! Doug with three friends spent eleven splendid days trekking in the majestic Himalayas in Nepal up to the Mount Everest Base Camp at 17,597' elevation. Doug's wanting-to-improve-everything brain was the reason he wrote his second book "CLONIES - More Fun Than SELFIES". Once he realized smartphone digital cameras don't make pictures the same as film cameras, he developed innovative methods for shooting classy snapshots and SELFIES featuring magical CLONIE twins.
