These children are deprived of basic education required for their socio-psychological development on sound lines, which would hamper their progress in the adulthood phase, thereby adversely affecting their meaningful participation in the development of a Nation. This is happening despite Constitutional provisions for compulsory education for all children in the age group of 6-14 years in India for over six decades.
