In the authors' experience as professional musicians and educators, we have found that children and adults alike tend to engage in a performance much more if they are familiar with it beforehand. Coloring books offer a unique opportunity for the Color-er (adult, child or both!), to absorb the plot of the opera by actively participating in the creation of each scene. When finished, the book will become a personalized guide to the opera, containing a clear yet simplified synopsis of the original libretto. Lydia Easley is a professional opera singer. Her international career has taken her to perform at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Verdi di Trieste, Oper Leipzig, Staatstheater Wiesbaden, Berliner Philharmonie and Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires, in addition to many others. Her roles span from Aida, Abigaille, Tosca and Turandot to Elsa, Sieglinde and the Feldmarschallin. Concurrently, Lydia has also cultivated her passion for teaching, having received a Bachelor of Music Education and a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Illinois State University, as well as a Masters in Vocal Performance from the University of Arizona. From nursery to Kindergarten, throughout the elementary ages, and including private voice students, Ms. Easley is passionate about introducing children to the magical world of opera. She lives in Italy with her husband and two children.
